Harassment is unwelcome behavior, which could be expected to make a person feel offended, humiliated or intimidated. It can be physical, verbal or written. All incidents of harassment – no matter how large or small or who is involved – require employers or managers to respond quickly and appropriately. Just because someone does not object to inappropriate behavior in the workplace at the time, it does not mean that they are consenting to the behavior. The most effective weapon against harassment is prevention.

Don’t add fuel to fire: A little attention (right or wrong) from your end can send your boss mixed signals. So make sure your actions don’t speak against you. Refrain from indulging in small talk and texting/mailing about anything that doesn’t concern work.

Talk to a trusted coworker: Talk to a friend-cum-coworker, lest someone else uses it against you. Ask them to notice, for weeks to a month, to gauge whether the boss is over friendly with just you.

Laugh it off: Humor is undoubtedly a good tool for those who know how to use it well. If the unwanted advances of your boss / colleague embarrass you, embarrass him with light- hearted banter of him being a sleaze.

Blurt it out politely: Some people don’t get subtlety. So for those kinds, use the exact words without mincing any. Tell him, you are not interested and all you are here for is work. Be professional.

When nothing works, report: Use this on the most deaf-eared, annoying, person. Just make sure, before you report him, you must have a log of situations, messages, mails which prove he is guilty. Also, make sure you have ample evidences.
